Homeland (in)Security, 2003 Invitational exhibition at 8th street artist collective, Charlotte NC. curated by Jacqueline Heer, in response to a surge of extreme patriotism and radical xenophobia. Heer, 5 toy parrots with recordable chips, intermittently playing the resident “I love you” and teaching each other : “you’re a terrorist” until it ends in a unrecognisable scream. Interrogation, performance by J.Heer, visitors are mock-detained, intimidated and ‘interrogated’ with banal questions in a small, dark room, flashing light.
