Walking into China, one is inadvertently blinded by its massive material expansion. The Artist residency program I was entering challenged me immediately to respond to this initial impression with a cycle of works. Some 20 spontaneous works were the result and were exhibited at TNT Gallery, in its inaugural exhibition together with Poul R. Weile (DK), and in a second exhibition which I also curated. The works were further exhibited in various other commercial and non-commercial spaces over the next several months.

Calligraphy! dreamed as objects of desire, visual conceptions, gestured by my helpless hand, a far cry from Chines calligraphy. I, like a thief, an imposter, now allow myself to project these sacred symbols into my wandering mind.
